When Ceredigion County Council announced it was pulling the plug on an annual grant to a sports society in Llandysul as part of the council’s bid to save £9.6m Cymdeithas Chwaraeon Llandysul consisting of the village football, cricket and bowls clubs introduced a weekly lotto which has been given wholehearted support in the area.

The lotto tickets costing £1 each are available from 20 outlets in the community and half the money raised is paid in prize money.

A committee member instrumental in setting up the fund-raising scheme Ieuan Hargreaves said “We are extremely grateful to all local business people for their help in selling the lotto tickets and members of the public for their support on a weekly basis.”
