Students at Coleg Ceredigion have once again shown how dedication and hard work pays off with many achieving the A level results they required. The months of hard work paid dividends with many now planning to pursue higher education courses at their chosen Universities and Colleges.
A Level students did well with 80% achieving an A- C grade and all students on the English A level course securing an A or B grade. Overall the college saw a 4% increase in the number of students achieving A-C grades at A or AS level compared with the 2013-14 results.
Students on Performing Arts courses were also particularly successful with the following results and destinations:
Hannah Pullen - Distinction* Distinction* Distinction* (equivalent to three ‘A*’ A level grades) - Aberystwyth University, BA (Hons) Drama and Theatre Studies
Tasha Dawson - Distinction, Distinction, Merit - Glyndwr University, BA (Hons) Theatre, Television and Performance
Lucie Shaw - Distinction, Distinction, Merit - University of Falmouth, BA (Hons) Acting
Kim Turner-Davies - Merit, Merit, Pass – UW Trinity Saint David, BA (Hons) Performing Arts
Leigh Relfe - Distinction*, Distinction* - Edgehill University, BA (Hons) Dance and Drama with Physical Theatre.
James Baker - Distinction* Distinction * Distinction * - becoming a self employed performer
Hollie Curtis - Distinction, Merit, Merit (destination not known).
Other successful students in Performing Arts include Orion Hart who is due to start at the prestigious Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance on a BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance course, Liana Vincent who starts at Rubicon Dance in Cardiff and Tashina Keller who was successful in achieving a highly sought after place on a BA (Hons) Drama course at Queen Mary, University of London
Ashley Wallington, Curriculum Leader at Coleg Ceredigion, commented “We are obviously over the moon with the students’ final grades as it proves that the amount of work invested, and the support of the Performing Arts staff really pays off. It is particularly pleasing this year given that the Performing Arts’ Department at Coleg Ceredigion is celebrating twenty years since its establishment.”

BTEC Level 3 Art and Design’s Llinos Turner achieving Distinction* and Madlen Bunn and Alice Stockting achieving Distinction Distinction Distinction;
Creative Media Production’s Garin Fitter Distinction Distinction Distinction.
Jacqui Weatherburn, the college Principal, noted “We are extremely pleased with the achievements of all the students and wish them every success in their chosen field of study or career.”
