Ceredigion MP Mark Williams, judged the Seawatch Foundation’s sand sculpture competition in New Quay on Sunday, along with fellow judge Kate Dillon of Pasty Pasty

The competition took place on Dolau Beach in New Quay, and visiting families and passers-by were invited to join in. The event celebrated the culmination of the National Whale and Dolphin Watch 2014. In its 13th year, this is a week where the public are invited to take part in dolphin, whale and porpoise surveys around the UK.

Mr Williams said: "I was delighted to be invited to judge the event along with Kate Dillon - it was great fun. We are very fortunate in Ceredigion to have local groups like Seawatch Foundation working to help protect our local marine environment.

"The data collected during the National Whale and Dolphin watch is very useful for mapping the population of whales, dolphins and porpoises around the UK, and is a great opportunity for everyone to become involved in the research which goes into understanding and protecting these magnificent creatures."
