Ceredigion’s Plaid Cymru AM Elin Jones has helped to launch the National Trust’s ‘10 special places’ at this year’s Royal Welsh Show.

The National Trust had invited the public to nominate their most special places in Wales. Mwnt, the spectacular secluded beach between Cardigan and Aberporth, was among the 10 places chosen for the final shortlist. The public is now being asked to vote online to choose Wales’s special place. Mwnt faces competition from places such as Snowdonia, the Gower peninsula and Hay-on-Wye.

Elin Jones, local Plaid Cymru AM for Ceredigion, said,

“Mwnt is one of the hidden gems of the Welsh coast. It is a beautiful and secluded location, with its unique 14th century church and sandy beach. Like the whole of the Ceredigion coast it’s rich in sea wildlife such as dolphins. It’s a place with a special atmosphere and is a place to create fond memories. I really hope that the people of Ceredigion get behind Mwnt and vote for it to be crowned Wales’s Special Place”.

To vote for their winner, the people of Wales are being urged to vote via Twitter using #lleoeddarbennig /#specialplaces @NTWales, or on Facebook at http://on.fb.me/1nJMU6f
