A special service will be held at Ebeneser Chapel, Newcastle Emlyn, this Sunday, July 27, 3pm, to remember one of the town's famous sons.
William Emlyn Jones was born in The White Lion in 1841, and grew to be one of Wales' leading religious and cultural personalities of the Victorian era.
He was the first minister of Tabernacl Chapel, Morriston-the Grade 1 listed building known as " The Cathedral of Welsh Nonconformity. "
This Sunday 30 members of Tabernacl will be holding a service to remember him in Ebeneser, Newcastle Emlyn -the chapel in which he was brought up.
In his day, Emlyn Jones was a national figure, a musician of note, a hymn-writer, leading Liberal politician and educationalist, and all these aspects will be recalled during the Welsh medium service.
Local residents are warmly invited to join the Morriston visitors in recalling the contribution of William Emlyn Jones to Wales.
