People living in Cardigan and surrounding areas are being reminded that drop-in information sessions are being held in the next fortnight to provide information and answer questions on plans for Cardigan Integrated Resource Centre.

Hywel Dda University Health Board has been working with local community and health representatives on a dedicated stakeholder group to determine the future model of care within the proposed development and community services.

Events have been organised for the benefit of the wider community:

• Guildhall, Cardigan, Wednesday 23 July 2014 from 12.30 pm to 6.30 pm

• Cardigan Agricultural Show, The Showground, Briscwm Fields, Wednesday 30 July

There will be a display of information stands, together with representatives from a range of services to answer any questions and to help people understand the new model of care.

Hywel Dda University Health Boards County Director and Commissioner for Pembrokeshire and Project Director Sue Lewis said: “The University Health Board established a stakeholder group which includes health, social care and third sector organisations and representatives from the community in Cardigan. This group has been extremely beneficial, providing us with input and ensuring that we are open and engaged with our community.

“The group felt there was a need to provide information to the wider Cardigan community and we have been happy to organise these events. We are also developing a factsheet and key question and answer sheet for use in community.” The University Health Board is submitting its Outline Business Case to the Welsh Government at the end of this month. This is the start of the scrutiny and approval process by Welsh Government.

“We have an exciting opportunity in developing this new and modern service in Cardigan to provide enhanced community services and care closer to home,” said Sue Lewis. “As an organisation our focus is on increasing our resources in the community to keep people well and at home, to avoid hospital admission whenever appropriate or to return people home as soon as possible to reduce the dependency on hospital care.”
