2014 sees the launch of a brand new Food Hall on the Cardigan show ground, to be situated very close to the entrance/exit, so that show goers can discover the fantastic array of local food & drink as they enter the show ground & perhaps choose something tasty to take home for supper - which can be collected as they leave the show later!

The food hall will be packed with producers selling all types of produce - including organic bread, cakes, preserves, honey, vegetables, beer, wine, local crabs, cheese, ice cream.....You name it, there should be something for everyone and you can meet the producers and chat with them before you buy. To date there are 25 stalls, giving a mouth watering display of what is available 'on the doorstep' in Ceredigion and the bordering counties of Pembrokeshire & Carmarthenshire.

No food hall would be complete without a cookery demonstration so during the day there will be 3 presentations by Nerys Howells, who is well known as a TV cook and for her great recipes using local food. She will be using ingredients from many of the food & drink producers present and giving tasters as she cooks! The demonstration area will be seated and will be a welcome resting place while you watch Nerys at work.

Food & drink is important to all ages, so we will be engaging the help of Small World Theatre's Smoothie Bike - a contraption that produces smoothies using pedal power! Great fun for everybody spanning the generations from children to grandparents - they can all have a go at making healthy, tasty drinks from fresh fruit whilst keeping fit at the same time! Let's hope the weather is kind for once and cold drinks will be order of the day.

The food hall will be open throughout the show day from 9am, so come along to enjoy a nibble and a nip....You'll be amazed at the array of top notch products on offer and a chance to hear the background story of each producer. As an added extra, there will also be a surprise visit by Dolly the Dormer who, together with owners Margaret Carter & Jenny Whitham, are visiting food destinations around the UK and happen to be down our neck of the woods on Weds 30th July. Dolly is an eyecatching VW dormobile, decked in the colours of Patchwork Foods - a very famous pate company from Ruthin, North Wales. Hopefully, there will be tasters of their delicious pate and spelt biscuits and recipe leaflets to accompany. You can also look out for Dolly staying at a camp site near Cardigan!

"All in all, the inaugural food hall at Cardigan show should be a great addition to the show, offering a taste of the area - from local artisan producers, farmers and fishermen" said show secretary Alwyn Evans.

There are still a few stall spaces available - contact the show secretary to book.
