Ceredigion officers are reminding motorists not to leave valuables on display inside their vehicles.

The initiative is aimed to help members of the public combat auto-crime by reminding car owners not to leave any valuables on display in their car when it’s unattended.

In addition to gifts, desirable items such as Satellite Navigation equipment, mobile phones or a bag, present the perfect opportunity for car thieves to break in.

PC Jones 752 said: “Even though we have low crime in Ceredigion and the county is one of the safest places to live, we still need to use common sense.

“Please don’t leave anything of value on display in your car, even if you are only leaving it for a short while. Employing a few simple measures can help to deter would-be thieves and keep your property safe.”

There have been thefts from vehicles in the local area earlier this month, and Items taken include a Satellite Navigation system and headphones.

Pc Jones 752 added: “Unfortunately, despite warnings, there are a core of motorists that still don’t realise the dangers of leaving their valuables on show in their car. And some still forget to lock their car.

“So our message is clear. If anything of value has to be left with the vehicle it should be locked away in the boot and kept out of sight. Please, be sensible and keep your valuables out-of-sight in your cars.”
