A Newcastle Emlyn hairdresser with an autistic grandson has led a group of intrepid hikers along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and increased the money raised for autism organisations to over £2,200.
Hairdresser Pamela Atterbury, owner of A Cut Above in Newcastle Emlyn, led the team of 23 hikers, ranging in age from ten to 69, on a sponsored walk from Tenby to Saundersfoot on Sunday 29th June.
“It was a fantastic experience,” said Pamela.”The scenery was wonderful with woodlands, sea views and foxgloves everywhere. It was hard going at times – in one stretch there are nearly 160 steps to climb. Everyone made it right to the end and we raised hundreds of pounds for local organisations that support people with autism.”
The walkers were greeted on arrival at Saundersfoot beach by Pamela’s grandson Casey and his parents Adam and Donna Jones
Pamela had already raised £1,700 from donations, and a coffee morning and raffle in Newcastle Emlyn in May. She also plans a sponsored skydive on her birthday in August.
