Town councillors are urging Ceredigion's highways department not to close one of the main roads into Cardigan over the summer.
Plans are in the pipeline to close Coronation Drive on July 14 for resurfacing.
But councillors are asking for only one side of the highway to be closed at a time.
"There are two large hotels that use this road plus the yacht club and a caravan park. It's not fair to ask the traffic to re-route around Ferwig," Cllr Catrin Miles told this week's town council meeting.
And Cllr Llwyd Edwards added: "Closing the road will affect trade in the town."
