Language run Ras yr Iaith will pass through the Teifi Valley on its route though nine towns on Friday, June 20.

Ras yr Iaith is a relay fun run for the Welsh language. We will be passing on the language as we pass on the baton.

The run will start from Owain Glyndwr’s parliament building in Machynlleth and run through the town centres of Aberystwyth, Tregaron, Lampeter, Aberaeron, New Quay, Llandysul, Newcastle Emlyn finishing in Cardigan.

Ras yr Iaith will follow in the footsteps of other successful language runs in Ireland, Brittany and the Basque Country. The language baton will be passed every kilometre.

The profit from the Ras will go back as grants to promote and support the Welsh language in Ceredigion and Bro Ddyfi and Teifi Valley.

The relay will begin in Machynlleth at 8.30am, reaching New Quay at 4pm. It will arrive at Gwasg Gomer, Llandsyul at 5pm and head for Pontweli before arriving in Carmarthen Road Newcastle Emlyn at 6pm and continuing onto the town’s rugby club.

The Ras’ final stage will start in Teifi Net Pool car park, St Dogmaels at 7pm, ending at Cardigan Quay with a concert featuring Dafydd Iwan at 7.30pm.
