Ceredigion’s Plaid Cymru AM Elin Jones has backed the largest ever team of Welsh athletes currently being selected to compete in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.

The local Assembly Member took part in Sport Wales’s launch event in the National Assembly, calling on people to get behind the team using the #poblwc2014 campaign on social media, and attended the recent baton relay when it visited Ceredigion.

Elin Jones, local Plaid Cymru AM for Ceredigion, said:

“I’m looking forward to seeing the Welsh team compete on the world stage, and wish our athletes the very best of luck. Great sporting events such as these encourage people – particularly children – to take part in sport, and it was great to see such big crowds taking part in the baton relay in Ceredigion recently.

“I’ll be particularly looking out for the progress of Anwen Butten, who like me went to school in Lampeter, and won medals in bowls at the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and 2010.”
