Ceredigion?s MP Mark Williams has praised Ceredigion County Council for their adoption of the Ceredigion young carer?s charter.
Speaking at the start of Carers Week this week, Mark Williams said;
?It is really pleasing to see Ceredigion County Council take the lead on this issue, and see the work the Red Cross have undertaken on their behalf. Their consultation with young carers revealed that in many instances carers identified one to one support and advice as a key priority.
?Carers are often characterised as elderly relatives looking after partners, or middle aged people looking after elderly relatives. The reality is that many young people have important caring roles for parents which requires understanding and support from schools, the voluntary sector, and Government at all levels.?
