Ceredigion MP Mark Williams attended the recent red march in Aberystwyth to show solidarity with the Nigerian schoolgirl kidnap victims.
Mr Williams congratulated Gillie Thomas and others who organised the demonstration.
He said: "As chairman of the All Party Group on Global Education for All in Parliament, I have been campaigning for some years to ensure enhanced education opportunities for girls throughout the world, and have visited Nigeria two years ago where part of my trip was disrupted by terrorist threats from the Boko Haram.
“Girls education is not simply an abstract concept, it is an entitlement. It is about empowering girls to make their own decisions in life, and this should be encouraged. This makes the kidnap in Nigeria all the more tragic, not least due to the lack of speed with which the Nigeria Government have responded.”
He added: “We in the rest of the international community must remind terrorists that this is completely unacceptable and flies in the face of the human rights of those young people. The well attended march in Aberystwyth shows the strength of feeling about this in the rest of the world.”
