The official opening of the Cae Gwyrdd play area at Penyparc took place on Thursday, 10 April. The responsibility of the present lease was transferred from Pwyllgor Lles Pentref Penyparc (Penyparc Welfare Committee) to the jurisdiction of Ferwig Community Council during the past financial year. Maintenance and general clearance of the site was carried out by Mr John Morris, Llwynpiod. Mr Morris was thanked by the Chairperson of the Council, Councillor Auriol Williams for his diligent efforts. Cllr Williams then proceeded to give a short history of the development of the play area and thanked the general public for their support. The event was attended by a number of Community and County councillors and parents.
The pupils of Ysgol Gymunedol Penyparc were invited to attend the event. After enjoying a few minutes on the play equipment, the pupils were soon brought into line by the staff and gave a short rendering of musical and literary items, which were enjoyed by all present. The Chairperson thereafter distributed light refreshments to the children.
