Young firefighters received their passing out certificates at Cardigan fire station this week.
The pupils received their certificates which mark the completion of a 20 week modular firefighting course, resulting in a BTEC Level 2 in Fire and Rescue Services in the Community qualification. The course involved classroom activities covering subjects such as fire safety awareness, road safety and anti-social behaviour as well as various drill yard activities including squad drills, hose running, branch handling, working with ladders and search and rescue techniques.
County Commander Iwan Cray said,
"This was a great opportunity for the young fire fighters to show the new skills they have acquired over past 20 weeks to all local dignitaries, family and friends who attended.
"They gave an excellent practical display using ladders and pumps".
Station Manager Mark Jones added,
"It was a great pleasure and privilege for me to be there to award the certificates to our young fire fighters. The Fire and Rescue Service is very keen to engage with young people in our communities and play an important part in their development into model citizens.”
