A drunk Cardigan teenager shouted and swore at police officers, a court has heard.
Dean Peter Thomas, aged 18, of 6 Golwg y Castell, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place, when he appeared before Aberystwyth magistrates on Wednesday.
Lesley Harborn, prosecuting, told the court four police officers were called to the scene, following reports that Thomas and another man were drunk and unruly in the communal area of a property in Castle Street on April 3.
Miss Harborn added: “The defendant became obstructive when officers asked them to leave the area. He became abusive, shouting at the police across the street and swearing at them.”
Thomas was arrested and told his behaviour was unacceptable, but continued to be loud and confrontational.
Thomas, who represented himself, said: “I’m very sorry for what I did. I was drunk and didn’t realise until the next morning what I’d done.”
Magistrates fined Thomas £40 and ordered him to pay £85 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.”
The presiding magistrate said: “You have done something right from that incident, you have admitted you were drunk and apologised. You will learn things as you go on in life.”
