New Quay lifeboat was in action on Good Friday.
Following a request by the Coastguard at 12.30 in the afternoon, the inshore lifeboat was launched by three of its youngest crew, namely, Peter Yates at the helm, Mike Evans and Ellis Jones, to assist a 26 foot motor cruiser, the Lady Rosa 2, which had lost engine power as it attempted to enter Aberaeron Harbour for mooring.
This was an urgent operation as the tide was falling and there was a clear risk that the cruiser might have to stand off for many hours while lacking engine power. Fortunately, the inshore lifeboat arrived in the nick of time and was able to tow the craft and its grateful crew to a temporary mooring in the harbour.
