A Cardigan teenager was arrested for cannabis possession the day after he was discharged from hospital, a court heard on Wednesday.
Ciahan Davies, aged 19, of Barton House, Priory Street, pleaded guilty to possession of the class B drug when he appeared before Aberystwyth magistrates.
The court heard that police executed a warrant at Davies’ home on December 21, and found a small amount of cannabis.
Iestyn Davies, defending, said: “He had just been released from hospital following an assault the previous day. The officer saw a very small amount of cannabis and he took responsibility for it.”
He added that his client lived with his partner and brother, and worked two jobs to provide for the household.
The presiding magistrate said: “In view of the extremely small amount of cannabis we have decided to give you a conditional discharge.”
Magistrates imposed a 12 month conditional discharge, and ordered Davies to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
