Choices West, Drugaid’s newest project for young people with drug and alcohol support needs is launching across Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion with a road show.

Spanning all of the west Wales area, the road show will wind it way through west Wales to a final visit in Pembrokeshire at the launch of the skate park in Haverfordwest on May 17.

The road show will visit as many secondary schools and young people’s spaces as possible to raise the profile of the new Choices West service and how young people, and anyone around them can get support when necessary.

Choices West is for young people up to the age of 18, or anyone affected by a young person’s substance use and is a new and innovative service using the Adolescent Community Reinforcement approach. This approach encourages to young people to make small but significant changes based on goals the young person sets for themselves.

The Choices fun bus is used to visit young people in areas where there is less access to mainstream services.

Caroline Phipps, Director of Drugaid, said: “We are delighted to be able extend our innovative young persons’ provision across west Wales and with this new and exciting partnership. Drugaid is a harm reduction agency. We provide accurate and up to date information, support and training for people who use substances, professionals and any person affected by another’s substance use. This road show will show case the excellent work of the project to the wide and diverse younger community members of west Wales.”
