The next High Sheriff of Dyfed, Broadcaster Elinor Jones, will be officially sworn in at a special ceremony at Aberglasney Gardens on April 5.

As High Sheriff of Dyfed Mrs Jones takes on an unpaid and non-political position which will involve attending ceremonial and community events. She will also play a key part in promoting Dyfed as well as raising money for charities including the Alzheimer's Society, which will receive the greater portion of funds raised, and Prime Cymru.

The television presenter who has enjoyed decades in the spotlight is eager to begin her year in office.

She said: “I look forward very much indeed to taking on the role of High Sheriff of Dyfed, to all the challenges of the role and in particular to meeting with people from all walks of life.”
