The local founder of a leading travel website has raised funds for a cancer charity.

Gareth Robinson, Managing Director of Tresaith based global travel website, www.Carrentals.co.uk, has raised over £1,140 for the Ski 4 Cancer charity, after skiing the vertical height of the world’s tallest mountain in just one day.

Mr Robinson completed the challenge in just 24 hours at the Austrian ski resort of Saalbach-Hinterglem, skiing 29,029 feet, or 8,848 metres, the height of Mount Everest, and the height that most aircrafts fly at.

He said: “The challenge was harder than I ever expected it to be. I had to rely on a floodlit ski slope and lift towards the end, as I was still 1,400 metres off my target as night set in. Fortunately, after a tough 24 hours, I did complete it, so I’m proud my hard work paid off. I’d like to thank everyone who made a donation and helped this worthwhile cause.”

Ski 4 Cancer provides alpine based respite days and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer. They also make grants available to UK based care institutions and fund research into the positive effects of sport and how it can help both prevent cancer and assist in recovery post diagnosis. Ski 4 Cancer is part of the 4 Cancer Group which includes sister charities Run 4 Cancer, Sail 4 Cancer and Bike 4 Cancer.
