Aberporth's beaches had a brush up this week as council workmen dug in to shift sand thrown up by recent storms.

Despite some complaints from local residents that it was a waste of money, local county councillor Gethin James said it was important to restore sea defences.

"On the smaller beach the sea wall had been completely covered with the sand covering seats," he said.

* Community councillors have asked for a further inspection of the sea defence at the top of the village's Dyffryn beach.

Cllr Gethin James said that boulders had moved during the stormy weather.

Photographs are to be sent to county council engineers.
