Ceredigion’s Welsh Liberal Democrat MP, Mark Williams, has expressed his concern at the closure of London House Day Centre in Aberaeron, having received representations from number of constituents and the Age Cymru Ceredigion group, about the closure of the facility.

Age Cymru Ceredigion have contrasted this situation with that of Gwynedd, where Age Cymru have been given funding by the Local Authority to open ‘Healthy Living Centres’ across the County for older people in smaller communities much like that of the London House Day Centre, and note that it will be a real loss to the community.

Commenting, Mark Williams said;

‘I have been approached by many older people who use London house and its services, and I am shocked that at no time have they been consulted by Social Services about the decision to close this facility.

‘I know the local councillor has had difficulty in getting any information at all on the situation, and I would urge the County Council to consider this carefully and consult fully with the local community.’
