Another giant solar farm is in the pipeline for Blaenporth.

Just a few months after a 40 acre site was given the go ahead at Llwyd Du, another 49 acre site is being earmarked in the south of the village, east of Bowls Road.

A consultation event is being held at Beulah vestry from 2pm to 7pm on Tuesday, March 25 where local residents will get a chance to see the plans and talk to the project team.

The proposed solar farm is being developed by West Midlands-based juwi Renewable Energies Ltd.

The site will include 27,000 solar panels and generate enough energy to power 2,000 homes.

Like the Llwyn Du site, the project is scheduled to last for 25 years.

The consultation event is being held prior to submitting the planning application to Ceredigion County Council.

David Mackins of juwi Renewable Energies said: “Solar energy has a vital role to play in keeping the lights on in the UK and tackling the effects of climate change. We recognise that the development will have some impact on the local area so it is important that the community has the opportunity to help shape the design.

“We have chosen the site carefully in order to minimise the effects on the local area, to enable the farmer to continue to farm the land beneath the panels and to bring benefits to the surrounding wildlife.”
