A project which will help young disabled people has been launched in Ceredigion.
DASH, the lead body, has been awarded £500k over five years to deliver a project supporting disabled young people living in Ceredigion. Working with Crossroads Mid and West Wales and Cantref the Uno project aims to give young disabled people, aged 14-25 in Ceredigion, a brighter future by working with the young people and their families, Health and social care professionals and other agencies. A range of activities will be designed to increase their ability to manage their transition into adult life and live more independently including overnight stays in a fully accessible bungalow.
The project is funded by The Big Lottery Fund’s (BIG) Bright New Futures programme, supporting projects that enable young parents and young disabled people in Wales to manage key transitions in their lives.
Elin Brock Director of Housing and Community Services says that “this project is an excellent example of what can be achieved when we work in partnership across Ceredigion. We are already working to support young people to gain independence in the area, and this is yet another project which will deliver better outcomes for our communities. We are thrilled to be part of this partnership and look forward to working closely with DASH in the future’
DASH “is delighted to lead this exciting and much needed
Project and looks forward to combining its many years of
experience of disability with the different skills of the partners
for the benefit of young people in Ceredigion”.
‘Crossroads Care Mid & West Wales is one of the three partner organisations working together in order to support young people during their transition period to become as independent as possible.
We are really looking forward to be part of this project together with DASH and Cantref.’
