A man accused of murdering a Llandysul woman today made his first appearance before a crown court judge.

James Blair Hamilton, aged 59, spoke only to confirm his name with the words, “That is the name I was given.”

Hamilton, of High Street, Llandysul, is charged with murdering Patricia Durrant, aged 65.

Her body was found on March 3.

Hamilton made a preliminary hearing before Judge Keith Thomas at Swansea Crown Court via video link with the city’s prison, where he is being held in custody.

He was not asked to enter a plea but on June 13 will attend a plea and case management hearing before a High Court judge, Mr Justice Wyn Williams.

Hamilton was further remanded in custody until then.
