A total of 67 sports clubs across Ceredigion have been awarded a total of £75,500 amongst them to get more people in Ceredigion active and keep fit.

The Community Chest Grant is Lottery funded and comes via Sport Wales, with Ceredigion County Council administering it.

Sport Wales’ Community Chest grant offers clubs up to £1,500 of National Lottery funding every financial year. It is designed to encourage more people to be more active and is run locally in partnership between Ceredigion Actif and Sport Wales.

The next round of Community Chest awards are set to be made in May, with the closing date to get applications submitted by the end of April.

Steven Jones, Active Communities Manager for Ceredigion Actif, commented:

“This grant really helps local clubs develop and be able to offer sporting opportunities to people in our communities. It’s a great scheme and I would encourage more to apply.

“Our two priorities for 2014 are to support Women & Girls activities along with Inclusive sport for people with disabilities.

“We know that it can make a tangible difference at grassroots levels, our local Panel supports new people becoming coaches and normally funds them 100%.”
