Elin Jones, Plaid Cymru AM for Ceredigion, has written to the Transport Minister for Wales to urge her to move as quickly as possible to implement a more frequent service on the Cambrian Rail Line.

This week, the Implementation Group, set up by the Welsh Government to consider the findings of the consultation survey held in late-2013 into the future of the line, completed its report and submitted it to the Welsh Government. The consultation resulted in a huge volume of responses – over 6000.

Local Plaid Cymru AM for Ceredigion, Elin Jones, said,

“I have taken this opportunity to urge the Minister to take note of public opinion in Ceredigion, and the huge benefits that a more frequent train service would bring. It would be a huge benefit to the economy, to Aberystwyth University and its students, and to tourist businesses.

“The huge response to the consultation showed the strength of feeling on this issue. A more frequent service is certainly feasible following the line investment undertaken by the previous Labour-Plaid assembly government. It’s high time that this long-promised improvement is delivered.”
