Plans to replace the traditional bandstand on Aberystwyth prom with a modern two-storey building described as "a monstrosity" and "ugly" have been given the go-ahead by Ceredigion planners.
The scheme will be funded by special renewal funding and has to be built by spring next year.
More than 2,000 people protested against the plan which will see the bandstand replaced with an indoor seating area, cafe and toilets overlooking the sea.
