This Valentine's Day Alzheimer's Society in Ceredigion is holding a tea dance at Llwyncelyn Hall, Llwyncelyn for people with dementia, their carers and family members.

The event, on Friday February 14, 2pm to 4pm, will also be a chance for people with dementia who use the charity's Side by Side befriending service to have a cup of tea, and enjoy a dance or two.

Alzheimer's Society staff will be on hand at Llwyncelyn Hall during the tea dance to help people find out more about how to get involved in the befriending service and support people living with dementia in the local area.

Trained Alzheimer's Society befrienders provide companionship to someone living with dementia and are matched with people depending on their personality and common interests.

Cherry Evans, Befriending Manager for Alzheimer's Society in Ceredigion, said: “Life doesn't stop when a person is diagnosed with dementia. People often still want to do the things they enjoyed doing before, but they might need some extra support. Our befriending service offers the perfect opportunity for volunteers to help people with dementia to continue to feel a part of their community and to do the things they enjoy."
