Ceredigion councillors have backed a motion calling for the retention of the Dyfed Powys Police helicopter.
National cutbacks mean that Dyfed Powys Police are being faced with their Pembrey helicopter service being scrapped and replaced with a less agile fixed wing aircraft housed at Haverfordwest.
Cllr Alun Lloyd Jones told this week's full council that Dyfed Powys force area was the largest geographical region in the county.
"Doing without a helicopter does not make sense at all," he said.
