Coleg Ceredigion’s first year construction students have been getting into the community spirit by rolling up their sleeves to help clean up damage caused by the recent bad weather.

Construction tutor, Adrian Varney, led a group of conscientious students to clean an area of 40 square metres of sand and pebbles 10cm thick from the car park by Parrog beach in Newport.

The students also helped to clear displaced rocks and placing them back on the slipway to allow access leading on to beach.

Mr Varney said: “I was really fulfilling to see our students so motivated and keen to help and clean up following the recent storm damage.

“It’s great to see students displaying such a positive attitude towards helping the local community. All in all over 30 tonnes of shingle and sand were removed from the car park at Parrog.”
