Elin Jones AM visited Cardigan Castle last week to have a tour of the grounds. Castle Director, Cris Tomos, along with Cadwgan trustees and members of Andrew Scott Ltd, welcomed her to the site.

During her tour of the site, Elin Jones was able to see how much the project has progressed since she last visited. The project contractors have been working on the many buildings within the two acre site, and volunteers have been supporting the head gardener to prepare the gardens and paths.

Elin said, “I’ve been involved with many aspects of the Cardigan Castle project over the years, and it’s great to think that 2014 is the year that will see all the hard work come to fruition. Visiting the site, I could really visualise how the castle will look to visitors. An immense amount of work has been done by contractors and the hundreds of volunteers who have given so much of their free time. The project will add immeasurably to the environment of the town and has the potential to be one of the biggest boosts to tourism for decades.”

Elin Jones, Assembly Member for Ceredigion, has long been a supporter of the Cardigan Castle project which is set to attract tourists from all over the UK and beyond when finished.

The Castle project is in its final months of restoration, and there will be a staged opening of the different elements of the project during 2014. A grand launch of the project is being planned for 2015.
