Police have launched an inquiry into a spate of burglaries at homes in the Cwmann Carmarthenshire and Panteg, Aberaeron area of Ceredigion on Tuesday, January 7.
Police are appealing to residents to be alert and vigilant for any suspicious behaviour following these incidents.
Properties are being targeted during the dark winter evenings when occupants are away from their address, and jewellery and cash have been taken.
“Each of the incidents has striking similarities. We believe that they are attributed to an individual or small group of individuals working together. We are conducting extensive enquiries to identify the person responsible” said T/Detective Constable Nia Owen.
“We are asking the local residents for their help in doing this. If you can be vigilant in your area, and report to us anything which you think is suspicious. It may be a person seen loitering somewhere, or a strange vehicle driving around your area. Please call us on 101 and report your concerns. You know your neighbourhoods and know when something is not right, so please get in touch.”
Dyfed-Powys Police have started a targeted operation in the area to offer extra security for local residents during the dark evenings, and are offering advice to local residents to help protect their property.
