Carmarthenshire County Council has apologised to viewers after technical problems meant the first hour and a half of Wednesday’s Full Council meeting couldn’t be broadcast.

A technical hitch with the webcasting camera system meant that no pictures or sound could be captured before approximately 11.35am.

It means there will also be no archive footage of the meeting up until this point in the meeting, however the public gallery was open as usual for members of the public and press.

Officers discovered the problem when setting up the system before the meeting started at 10am, however despite their efforts – supported by technical engineers from Public-i – they were unable to get the system working for the start of the meeting.

Cllr Pam Palmer, Deputy Leader and Executive Board member with responsibility for communications, said: “We regret that we were unable to stream or archive the first hour and a half of today’s meeting for online viewing, and we’d like to apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.

“It is the first time we have encountered technical difficulties since we started filming Full Council meetings in May.

“Our officers worked hard to resolve the issue, and I’d like to thank them for their efforts.

“We are now working with Public-i to establish the cause of the problem.”
