Crime victims: The Commissioner helps you cope

Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner Christopher Salmon is offering victims of crime a clearer route through criminal justice.
He has published details of the UK Government’s new Victims’ Code on his website.
Mr Salmon said: “Although Dyfed-Powys is a safe part of the country, the effects of crime and the frustrations of dealing with a complex justice system are felt as acutely as anywhere.
“I hope that publishing the Victims’ Code on our website will help victims cope.”
The Victims’ Code came into force on December 10 and sets out how criminal justice agencies must give information and services to victims of crime in England and Wales.
Written in plain language, it provides information on what victims can expect from the criminal justice system at every step of the process.
To ensure that victims, justice practitioners and victims’ organisations are aware of the services and support that victims of crime are entitled to, the Government has developed a range of products to help communicate the Code. These include a YouTube video and leaflets.
