Ceredigion’s Welsh Liberal Democrat MP has endorsed the Town Council and League of Friends petition about the loss of beds at Cardigan Hospital, and welcomed Ceredigion County Council’s vote of no confidence in the Hywel Dda Board.

Commenting, Mark Williams said:

‘My Office has been overwhelmed by the larger number of concerns from local residents about the loss of beds from the Hospital. My online petition has already attracted several hundred signatures, and I congratulate the Town Council on their petition too. It is essential we all make our views on the loss of beds very clear and I encourage everyone to sign.

‘I remained very concerned about the prospects for beds in the new hospital, and the practical difficulties for local people to access other impatient services. This is completely unacceptable as was the in which staff were appallingly kept in the dark.

‘I also welcome the action taken by Ceredigion County Council who have unanimously voted for a vote of no confidence in the Health Board, bought on by this announcement about Cardigan Hospital.’
