LANGUAGE activists from across Wales will descend on Aberystwyth at 11am on Saturday December 14.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith will hold a rally calling on the Government to take six urgent steps to unlock the Welsh language so that everyone in the county can live in Welsh in their communities.

The rally comes a year after the publication of Census results that showed a decline in the number of Welsh speakers across Wales, and that the percentage of Welsh speakers has fallen below 50% for the first time.

The organisation is asking people to come to the rally with examples of what is locking them out of living their lives in Welsh in their communities, from the education system to the workplace.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith has given the Government six months to act on six policy areas, which include ensuring fair funding for the Welsh language and for changes to planning system in order to work in favour of the Welsh language.

The six-months comes to an end in February, and the language movement says it will begin to take direct action if the Government does not show a commitment to achieve the six policy changes.
