A LOCAL hotel scooped a brace of awards at a recent celebration of Carmarthenshire’s tourism industry.

Newcastle Emlyn’s Gwesty’r Emlyn Hotel walked away with two awards at the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards 2013.

Carmarthenshire Tourist Association’s Chief Executive Nia Ball said: “Through these awards, we aim to celebrate success and inspire excellence, and those shortlisted really do inspire – encouraging others within the industry to strive towards emulating the same success.”

Some 250 people were at the gala awards ceremony organised by Carmarthenshire Tourist Association to honour the finest tourism businesses and it highlighted the impact of the Rural Development Plan (RDP) investment in the area. Of the over 120 tourism businesses nominated, 41 were shortlisted as finalists. Of these, 32 had received support from RDP Sir Gâr projects, 10 of whom were gold award winners in the 12 categories.
