CHARGES could rise at Parc Gwyn crematorium, Narberth, if Pembrokeshire’s Cabinet approves proposals this week.
Pembrokeshire County Council’s Cabinet was due to discuss plans for increased costs as the Tivy-Side went to press yesterday (Monday).
The price of a weekday service at the crematorium between 9.15am and 3.15pm is set to rise from £482.50 to £550, while the cost of a Saturday service could rise from £600.50 to £750.
Cremation with no service would increase from £401.50 to £450.
An extra slot or double service, available at the discretion of the superintendent on weekdays, would cost an extra £111, rising from £189 to £300,
A cabinet report says the increases are required to meet the additional costs incurred for off-setting mercury abatement and to contribute towards increased fuel payments, and adds that major improvement works are also required.
The price increases are estimated to raise and additional £95,000 a year.
