OUTREACH workers from Nest, the Welsh Government’s fuel poverty scheme, have teamed up with Pembrokeshire’s Community First to provide advice and support to people struggling to heat their homes.

The roadshow will visit The Hive, Goshawk Road, Haverfordwest, November 6, 10am to 4pm, and will be at Pater Hall, Pembroke Dock the following day.

Nest offers home improvements at no cost to applicants who own or privately rent their home, live in a property that is very energy inefficient and receive a means tested state benefit. Following a home visit to check eligibility, a Nest assessor will recommend a tailored package of improvements to help make the property warmer and save money on energy bills.

The Nest scheme, managed by British Gas, also supports applicants through the process with advice via a freephone number on saving energy, money management, as well as making sure they are on the best fuel tariff, and whether they’re entitled to any benefits to boost their income.

Lee Parry, head of Nest, said: “We are committed to helping those most in need across Pembrokeshire to heat their homes for less and this event is a great opportunity for us to meet with householders to advise them of the advice and support available to them through the Nest scheme."

Residents on a means tested benefit, with hard to heat homes, can contact Nest on freephone 0808 808 2244, or visit www.nestwales.org.uk for more information.
