Toothbrushes and paint brushes promote oral health

A drawing by anYsgol Gynradd Llandysul pupil is among winners in a competition organised by the Dental Public Health Unit at Cardiff Dental School in conjunction with the British Dental Journal and the Designed to Smile programme.
Six year-old Chardonnay Evans was one of the 12 winners’ drawings, picked from over 2,000 entries, which will feature on the front cover of the journal.
Designed to Smile is a key component of the Welsh Government’s national oral health improvement programme. It is being run in 1,200 schools across Wales in areas of social and economic deprivation. More than 78,000 children are taking part.
Dinah Channing, Oral Health Manager with the Designed to Smile programme, said: “It’s so important to develop good dental healthcare habits from a young age as they serve you well for life. This competition has been a great chance to remind children about keeping their teeth healthy.”
