CYMDEITHAS yr Iaith has called on Carmarthenshire County Council to reassess its draft Local Development Plan in light of new government guidance (TAN 20) on the role of Welsh in the planning process.
Bethan Williams, local area organiser for Cymdeithas yr Iaith said:
"The government claims that the new guidance will enable local councils to ensure that their new Development Plans protect the Welsh language and communities. If so, the Council should look again at their draft plan and extend the date for responses to their draft plan by a month in order to consider the matter fully.
She added: "We very much hope that the Council will draft a new Local Development Plan to promote strong communities Welsh as part of their new strategy.”
