A FASCINATING painting of Cardigan's indoor market has been unearthed.
Edward Fitzwilliams of Old Cilgwyn, Adpar, Newcastle Emlyn, was hunting through his family archives when he came across this black and white photograph of a painting of the market done by his aunt Joyce Fitzwilliams.
The painting was a test piece for the National Diploma in Design and completed in 1949 - but Mr Fitzwilliams has no idea where the original is today.
"After spending some time in a nunnery my aunt left without taking her final vows and went on to study for her diploma. She then taught for a time in Llandysul Grammar School after which she moved to America where she took a master's degree in fine art in Washington State," said Mr Fitzwilliams.
"Some of her pupils in the Teifiside area may remember her."
The painting shows the indoor market full of customers and packed stalls.
"I was wondering if anyone knows where the painting is today," said Mr Fitzwilliam.
