Pembrokeshire farmer to face Fferm Ffactor challenge

A LLANFYRNACH man will be one of ten Welsh farmers who will soon face the challenge of Fferm Ffactor 2013 as the series returns to S4C next week.
Dylan Harries, aged 24, will begin his Fferm Ffactor adventure on October 16 where a hard and emotional journey awaits the contestants which will end with one winning farmer driving away in a brand new 4x4 Isuzu Pick-up truck.
Dylan, who is this year’s youngest competitor, will face challenges ranging from racing a tractor through an obstacle course to creating a brand new sausage recipe.
“I always love a challenge and refuse to give in,” said Dylan, who works as a farm hand in a dairy farm where up to 550 cows are milked each day.
“I don’t think being the youngest contestant will be a disadvantage on Fferm Ffactor, I lost my mother when I was 12 and this has reminded me that you only get one life and you must do the most with it while you can.”
The fate of the competitors will once again be in the hands of the programme’s experienced judges – Professor Wynne Jones and Aled Rees.
"The ten farmers facing the Fferm Ffactor challenge this year are very brave," said Aled – a farmer from Cardigan who won the first series in 2009.
"They know exactly what they are up against as they have seen the series on the TV over the years. The nation will be watching so they are aware that any mistakes they make throughout the series will be on show for everyone to see.
"We will be looking for someone who can enjoy the work they are doing. They won’t necessarily have to be the best at every single task but it’s important they have the right sort of personality which will reflect well on the agricultural industry.”
Fferm Ffactor 2013 starts on S4C Wednesday, October 16 at 7.30pm and continues at 8.25pm.
