VANDALS who defaced the Cofiwch Dryweryn wall on Thursday evening have been condemned by Ceredigion MP Mark Williams.
The national landmark commemorates the flooding of Capel Celyn and the Tryweryn Valley in Gwynedd in 1965.
Mr Williams said: “Whether the perpetrators are local or visitors they obviously have no understanding or appreciation of the historic message of the wall or the deep seated passions about Tryweryn. I wholeheartedly condemn them.”
He added: “This act of mindless vandalism is utterly deplorable, but I am astounded that despite previous acts of vandalism the Welsh Government has not done more to protect one of our most iconic national landmarks.”
