Pub's family fun day for the troops
12:00pm Friday 16th August 2013 in News
LOCAL pub owners are looking forward to their first charity fundraiser for military charity supporting injured military personnel this Saturday.
The Crown Inn, Llwyndafydd, Llandysul, is organising a summer party for the entire family to raise valuable funds for one of the oldest charities supporting injured members of the military BLESMA – The Limbless Veterans.
Pub owners and couple Monique Shaw-Davis and Rob Dellow are planning a day for the entire family and their dog with a host of activities such as wine tasting, mouse-racing, donkey rides, shoe-making demonstration and exciting raffle prizes. There will also be local stalls of cakes, books, crafts, wood carvings, quilts, handmade gifts and many other items to tickle your fancy.
Besides face-painting, parents can hope to keep children occupied with an animal area with ponies, ferrets, ducks, chickens, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs and pigmy goats.
Monique Shaw-Davis said: “I am very excited about the event at our pub this Saturday. We have done some charity events before but with interesting activities like donkey rides, mouse-racing and some very exciting prizes to be won this weekend’s event promises to be bigger and better!
“The team at BLESMA – The Limbless Veterans have been incredibly supportive and we look forward to putting up a fantastic show for them. With my brother in law an ex SAS, I wholly appreciate the efforts undertaken by those in service for their country. So come along to The Crown Inn and, let’s together, make a difference to the injured military community.”
All visitors can enjoy the barbeque and the hog roast whilst being entertained by live music from a local band Whiskey Business.
10% of all the proceeds from the stalls will be donated to BLESMA – The Limbless Veterans.
BLESMA – The Limbless Veterans is the national charity for all limbless service men and women, their widows and dependants. It was formed in the years following the First World War and became a national charity in 1932.
