A storm has blown up in St Dogmaels over a proposal to erect a wind turbine at a farm on the opposite side of the River Teifi that would be visible to large parts of the village.

A planning application has been submitted to Ceredigion County Council for the installation of one wind turbine of 20.979m to blade tip and associated infrastructure at Trebared Farm.

The turbines produced by C & F Green Energy based in County Galway in Southern Ireland are aimed at making wind energy affordable to everyone.

C & F specialises in making turbines for farms as landowners seek to reduce energy costs, reduce their carbon emissions and take advantage of income opportunities in power generation.

Residents in St Dogmaels are concerned over the wind turbine being visible on the skyline from the village.

At a meeting of St Dogmaels Community Council on Friday six members of the public spoke against the installation of the turbine, pointing out that it would have a detrimental effect on the beauty of the area.

The council resolved to submit an objection which will be considered by the Development Control Committee of Ceredigion County Council.
