Husband admits assault

A travel agent from Blaenporth who pushed his wife down the stairs after she complained he was working too hard has been made the subject of a suspended prison sentence.

 

Timothy Simon Anthony Osborne, aged 46, had initially denied a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm on Deborah Osborne and after a trial at Swansea crown court the jury was unable to reach a verdict.

 

As a second trial was about to get underway the prosecution introduced a new, lesser charge of assault causing actual bodily harm, to which Osborne pleaded guilty.

 

Osborne, now living in Winchester, was sentenced to six months jail, suspended for two years, and ordered to attend 27 sessions of a community based work group.

 

He was also made the subject of a restraining order preventing him from contacting Deborah Osborne for three years.

 

During the first trial the prosecution said Osborne, a travel agent specialising in cruises, had spent May 30, 2011--a bank holiday--working on his computer.

 

Mrs Osborne objected and Osborne said he pushed her to prevent her entering the room he was using as an office.

 

Mrs Osborne fell down the stairs. The prosecution alleged she suffered a broke rib but Mrs Osborne told the jury she had fractured three.
